An unrivalled journey along the awe-inspiring Great Ocean Road between Australia’s southern capitals

An unrivalled journey between Australia’s southern capitals takes you from the eclectic streets of Melbourne past windswept beaches, rainforests and natural wonders to Adelaide –along one of the world’s most incredible coastal drives.

Your journey begins tracing the full length of one of the world’s most spectacular coastal touring routes, the Great Ocean Road. Visit azure surf beaches, quaint seaside hamlets and spot lazy kangaroos and sleepy koalas in their natural habitat along the way. Enjoy a verdant rainforest interlude in the Great Otway National Park before arriving at the scenic highlight of the Great Ocean Road – the iconic Twelve Apostles. Stroll cliff-edge boardwalks for the perfect vantage point to see these magnificent limestone stacks rise majestically from the Southern Ocean. There is also the option to view from above with a short helicopter flight.

Spend the night in the charming beachside village of Port Campbell with a relaxed dinner at a classic Australian pub where you may meet some of the locals and sample the regions produce.  The next morning consider rising early for an unforgettable sunrise viewing at the Twelve Apostles and explore less visited natural wonders of the Port Campbell National Park – all before the tourists arrive!

Continue west to Tower Hill’s ancient-volcanic crater, now a wildlife reserve teeming with native Australian flora and fauna. Then break for lunch in the picturesque maritime town of Port Fairy before crossing the South Australian state border. Overnight will be in the gorgeous regional country town of Mount Gambier.

The final day offers wonderfully diverse riches – from the sunken gardens of the Umpherston Sinkhole to the azure brilliance of South Australia’s Blue Lake, nestled in a dormant volcano crater. Taste fine cabernet at boutique wineries in the acclaimed Coonawarra wine region and explore the Naracoorte Caves World Heritage site, housing ancient fossils dating back 50,000 years before arriving into the South Australian capital city of Adelaide.
